PURPOSE
This fund is designated for worthy students whose studies and future career reflect the selfless caring and dedication exhibited by Anita Sanderson Padgett. The annual scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1000.00 by the scholarship committee. Previous recipients may re-apply during subsequent years.

ANITA SANDERSON PADGETT (1912-2010)
Anita Padgett served as the volunteer choral director of the Lone Oak United Methodist Church Choir for more than 50 years. She organized and conducted the "Mother Singers" community choir that gave concerts to raise money for scholarships. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and taught piano lessons well in to her 90's. Carrying on the tradition begun by Anita, her family began this scholarship fund in June 2002 as a surprise for her 90th birthday. Since that time, it has been supported by donations from her fellow church members, friends, and former students. Anita Padgett passed away in January 2010 at the age of 97.
